Junior Olivia Miller has been chosen as this year's winner of the Voice of Democracy contest sponsored by VFW Post 1984 in Canton, Illinois. She now advances to the district level. Other juniors who entered the contest and won cash prizes were Sadie Arnett, Cali Hanson, and Washita Bradford.
This year's theme was "Why is the Veteran Important?" Students who entered the contest were judged on their written word along with their oral presentations of their essays. According to the VFW, this year's contest was very close with the entries being separated by only four points.
